Hermione and Harry?

So it has come to my attention on Twitter this morning that in an interview with Wonderland magazine, J.K. Rowling admitted that despite being one of the cutest couples in literature- wait for it- Harry should have actually got with Hermione instead.

After years of bickering and squabbling the two finally got together- some people actually clapped in the cinema when they had their first kiss, would you believe- and they got married and had two children, Rose and Hugo.

But in comments published by The Sunday Times, Rowling said that while fans might be angry and upset, ”I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment” and Hermione should have married Harry in the series.

Ron and hermione

For any one who loves the Harry Potter series it’s a bit of a bombshell- whether you’re pro Harry or pro Ron.

The die-hard fans are probably going to be more than a bit upset, but both Rowling and Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the movie series say the two would have made a better couple and said: ”I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy.”

So for any Harry Potter fans reading this, what are your thoughts? I quite like Ron and Hermione as a couple, but the camp is divided over some fans agreeing with the author and others remaining pro-Ron. I didn’t really pick up on any romantic vibes between Harry and Hermione but maybe that’s just me being unobservant. The interview was previewed by The Sunday Times and is due to be published Friday, but what do we think? Did she marry the wrong guy?
